Back in the New York Groove; Vikings thrash Giants

"New York Groove" is a song performed by legendary Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley on his self-titled 1978 album. It also happens to be the ditty that the New York Giants used to play after they scored a touchdown at Giants Stadium.

The Minnesota Vikings defense may just claim the song as their own.

Two years ago in North Jersey, Vikings safety Darren Sharper picked off Eli Manning three times, returning one for a touchdown in a 24-21 Minnesota win.

And, while it didn't count, the Vikings trashed the New York Jets, 37-20, during a preseason game at the stadium in August, when both Sharper and linebacker Chad Greenway returned interceptions for touchdowns.

Fast forward to this past Sunday when Sharper, safety Dwight Smith and Greenway all returned Manning interceptions for touchdowns as Minnesota stunned the New York Giants again, 41-17.

ALL-AREA FOOTBALL SOUTH OFFENSE: Four Sailors lead offense, behind bulky interior line

While Wayland Union captured the O-K Gold flag this season, league-rival South Christian made an impression during the postseason.

The Sailors are well-represented on the Advance All-Area South Offense, including their quarterback, his favorite receiver, workhorse running back, and captain of the interior line.

BRAD SHOUP Kelloggsville, Tackle

This 6-4, 235-pound senior was moved to center a year ago due to injuries, then returned to right tackle for his senior season, his third as a starter along the Rockets' offensive line.

"Brad is a great kid who worked hard to make himself better. He's really a force on the offensive line, excellent at finishing blocks," Kelloggsville coach Don Galster said. "He got better every week and really became a dominant blocker late in the season."

JAY MORREN South Christian, Guard

Jay (6-3, 195) excelled on both sides of the football for the playoff-bound Sailors, playing inside linebacker along with offensive guard.

Disney's Hannah Montana doll beats Barbie as 'Most Desired Toy'

New York, Nov 21 (ANI): Disney's Hannah Montana doll, based on the popular TV series, has emerged as the most wanted toy among young girls.

The doll has overtaken Barbie and Bratz as the most desired toy for young girls.

Hannah Montana is an American Emmy Award-nominated teen television series focusing on Miley Stewart (played by Miley Cyrus), who lives a double life as an average teenage girl at school during the day and a famous pop singer at night, concealing her real identity from the public other than her close friends and family.

"It's everything Hannah. She's the hot property, from the doll to the play sets and everything that goes along with it," the New York Daily News quoted Jim Silver, editor in chief of Toy Wishes magazine, which features Cyrus' character on its current cover and includes the singing doll in its coveted "Hot Dozen" holiday toy list, as saying.

Big fish from a small port has Scots in sight

ESKIFJÖRDUR, population 972, is one of Iceland's major fishing towns inclusive of export harbour with direct sailing to Europe. It also markets a fine line in international footballers with ambitions of leading their country to the 2010 World Cup. One is Brondby's Stefan Gislason, another Eggert Jonsson of Hearts.

The latter took his international bow aged 19 in Copenhagen's Parken Stadium last week, whilst back home the gathered residents in Eskifjördur's local tavern felt their Omega 3-filled hearts swell with pride. Two local boys in the same Iceland team was indeed cause to pour a Brennivin or two.
